how fascinating, then you need to either teach the new players well or/and ban for the non-listeners as mining drones are effective now, only thing about drones is that they dont avoid enemy players and dont return to the BC after their health gets low

Tempest wrote:cost is a form of balance weather you want to admit it or not o.o teams ignore upgrades due to their cost, in example kinetics, wraith corvette laser upgrades. im not sure if you posted this because you wanted to prove that its not ok to give an OP upgrade and just have it cost a lot, but at this time i dont see anything in the game that is unbalanced enough to claim that the mineral cost makes it ok.
The main reason I posted this is so that I have some numbers to point to when discussing balance.

I will say though that eco builds could probably use a nerf, seeing as they outclass all other builds 5 minutes before the first kerm field spawns.

Marine - thank you so very much for doing this analysis. The only calculation change I would make is a decreasing efficiency due to depletion of asteroids on the map.

It is amazing when you have 3 great miners, 1 refining drone, and 1 person permanently on upgrades. You can be finished on all important BC and SS upgrades by the 12 minute mark, and do a 2 destroyer BC supported attack by the 14 minute mark.

Mining drones actually avoid enemy players rather well, although they seem to prioritize mining minerals over escaping and their memory is really short. "Oh no, an enemy! Let's go in the other direction. * 2 seconds later* Oh look, asteroids!"

I had a mining drone once ram the same roid non-stop.

Didnt seem to be a pathing issue as I just pushed it away with my wraith and the miner followed along. When I destroyed the roid the miner just another asteroid to ram himself to death into.

Mining AI are suicidal. like really suicidal, not just bad.

Mining drones will not recognize asteroids they are not set to mine. The only way to avoid roid-crashing-drones is to have them set to mine everything. Adding a routine to flee from enemies and dock when below a certain hull % would make them much more usable.

Still, the Drone was homing the asteroid. it was not pathing related
