Well my point (which was not transmitted well) was that the primary purpose of minelayers is supposed to be laying mines. That's why they start with a free pack of mines. Healing isn't their primary job. In practice though, I agree with you, you don't buy a minelayer without the healing beam. I do think this is bad, actually. However, there's plans to add repair drones or something to make the healing beam not mandatory.

Well this is a chomper topic anywho, and i do believe chompers have been taken care of quite well. The chomper has the potential of bringing in currency about 6 times faster than a miner if coordinated with the bc, and thats probably low, i wouldnt be surprised if it were much higher. As far as cost comparison goes 75y 75b to 100y 50b 25r, different minerals but just 25 minerals more in total. To better stabilize the money spent to brought in ratio i do support the upgrades and their costs. They are cheap not overpriced logical and have a purpose

last thing about minelayers is that they serve as more of support ships, maby we can change the minelayer to a science ship and can do alot of weird stuff (energy transferes for example) and change the nature of the minelayer so that it can fit the role of more stuff and generally be more fun

a power transfer from the layer to another ss would be interesting, but not to the bc however. i suggest using a tractor beam animation that can hook onto allies, it wont break unless out of range or deactivated. while in effect the layer would transfer its energy reserves onto the targeted ship at a decent rate

i like this idea lots actually, it can make small ship attacks much more coordinated and strategic.
