Yeah, there should definitely be destroyable lights or security cameras or something that gives vision of the ship that can be disabled. Just giving a team permanent vision of the ship at all times is a bit unfair for the defender.
I don't like the idea of a console dedicated to upgrading doors, nor for activating turrets. They should honestly be always-on, while I can see the argument that it would give a good team the ability to 'micro' the turrets for minimum power loss, I would rather see the attackers be the ones who must counter the onboard defenses, rather than defenders being the ones to screw up their own defense. Plus, this makes it easier to balance turrets, turrets would have to be given HP to prevent them from being killed before they can be activated, and would have to be given reduced damage to ensure that you can't SURPRISE 500 DAMAGE people with turrets.

UPGRADES
Everything needs upgrades
Improved Turrets (20 blue, 20 red) (3 levels):
Increases armor of autoturrets by 1. Increases health by 25. Increases range by 0.5.
Improved Barriers (10 yellow, 30 blue, 10 green) (5 levels):
Increases health of electric barrier by 20 and increases duration by 5 seconds.
Thermite Charge (5 yellow, 15 red) (5 levels):
Incendiary grenades spawn more fires.
X-22 Pulse Charge (25 yellow, 25 red, 10 green):
When C-14 explodes, it additionally sets the shield power of the battlecruiser its on to 0. It also disables the shield power settings for 8 seconds. Mutually exclusive with Ion Pulse Warhead (choose one).
Ion Pulse Warhead (25 blue, 25 red, 10 green):
When C-14 explodes, it additionally sets the engine power of the battlecruiser its on to 0. It also sets the throttle to 0, freezes the engine power settings for 8 seconds, disables engine boost for 8 seconds, and disables rotating the battlecruiser for 8 seconds. (basically, you can't move or turn the battlecruiser) Mutually exclusive with X-22 Pulse Charge (choose one).
Reprogramming Nanites (50 blue, 20 green):
Allows the Dust Cannon to damage autoturrets. Autoturrets destroyed by the Dust Cannon drop an autoturret item, which can be picked up and redeployed (basically, you kill an enemy turret, pick it up, then place it on your team).
SPECIAL UPGRADE
This upgrade only makes sense if deployable upgrades happen, that way a boarding party can disable them
Node Processor (50 yellow, 50 blue) (3 levels):
Significantly increases the difficulty of hacking. (there are many ways to make hacking more difficult, for example significantly increasing the range of possible return values).

We should add a combat knife. Marines don't go anywhere without their combat knife.

I am not sure how hard this would be to put into this game, but I had a cool idea. For a boarding mechanic would it be possible to have a missile type of weapon that fires a players unit to the opponents' BC? A pod that will penetrate the hull and randomly put a person in the other BC. From there they could create havoc durning the battle. Have the pod just blow up at a certain range so the player could re spawn if the shot misses. You would have to be really nuts to get into one of those lol.

might want to make the hangar more expansive and elevators more distant from eachother as boardars will run through elevators to do some quick skill escapes, *up* *down*

I'm not considering increasing the size right now. The map is packed very tight right now and I don't have the skills to make it look good.
