In one sense, I get this. You're trying to make things simpler for people on deck by allowing them to more easily keep an eye on two different views of space.

I feel if you wanted to do something like this, though, switching the minimap from interior to exterior minimap, or even just have no interior minimap at all times (though this would be a boon for infiltrators, it would give the Photoadaptive Disguise more use - perhaps too much of a boon) might be more appropriate depending on the level of information the minimap relayed regarding the battlecruiser. You could also consider simply having the minimap toggle-able between a minimap of the interior to a normal view of the exterior if you wanted instead of an entirely new panel popping up in the top left.
