Kermiculite Field -- BC Attracting

Crazy experimental idea.
What if the spawned kermiculite fields (the ones that come with the green minimap ping) pulled both BCs toward them like an infinite range tractor beam. The pull would not put the BC in serious danger and would stop as soon as the asteroids were destroyed/mined.
Discuss.

o.O??????
Seems interesting. Maybe whirlpool style! =D Also, l've never actually used or been victim to a tractor beam, so l don't know how it works.. But would it be counterable by going the opposite direction with 100 on engines or something?

probably should have a random event that creates a blackhole, (wont kill a BC but does hull damage and sucks all ships in slowly at first and then greater) it will have kerm satalites revolving around the blackhole, kinda fun but there should be a seperate feild

The tractor beam slowly pulls ships toward it to a set distance. You can use engines to keep away from it no problem. However, the only way to stop it permanently is to mine the asteroids.

Haha. 'Random Event'. Kinda goes with what l was saying on my thread 'Space Occurances'.
This is a perfect example. The random events would effect both teams simultaneously and the force
of the event would vary depending on size of crew.
Anyone here ever play Super Smash Bros? l'll assume you have. Think 'bout the Pokemon Stadium.

Edit: BTW, this would be totally epic and l think it should definitely be implemented ASAP.

so then the kerm field should spawn alongside a black hole? xD gotta keep it logical as well as interesting. i do support this idea because it would encourage early bc combat fighting over the kerm, which i do personally like; but we do need to keep it logical, asteroids with kerm in it shouldnt create a gravitational pull just because they are green :p. keep in mind that if we do add the logic factor to this it will require an animation to pull off which may lag players further.

Haha, oh tempest... One word. Screw logic. xD

the black hole should be active for 4 minutes, after that it sucks the remaining kerm in and dissapates. Ya i know Karl suggested many random events, i just wanted to add this because the normal kermaculite feild tractoring BCs is a horrible idea. As new players wont know whats up and it forces confritation early and the BC that has the 3 burst over the 1 burst will most likely win in such early stages of the game.
Good plan, wrong way to implement

no reason to screw up the logic behind the map

everything that happens logically works as it should, the power console, power demand accelerating on ships etc. now thinking about it SOMETHING must happen in space to get those fields to gather, why not make it a gravitational pull around some sort of doodad that makes sense. the pull shouldnt be massive, and you should be able to steer away from it easy enough, but if your parked it should suck you in slowly. all small ships also, it would help get everybody there and doing what they need to do i guess o.o im not sure about this though as cool and awesome as it sounds as a concept to get people to fight over kerm, another part of me feels its extremely not needed at all xD sorta a waste of time compared to new things in the works already

And now your throwing the point out that logic is in everything.. You don't need to keep entire 100% logic if it adds some fun to the game. Also, that is a very good idea, tempest. l like it.
