Regarding Vote Kick...

While I understand the vote-kick system, I also feel as if it acts as a method of cutting out new players who appear unsuitable for the game. Lets be honest -- a lot of more experienced players often lose patience with new people running off on their own to do silly things like shoot with Weapons, use the Construction Console, or even just sit around aimlessly. I'm not saying this isn't a necessary function -- there are times when someone is trying to troll and actually work against the team rather than with. However, those times are far fewer than when a player simply cannot wrap their head around everything, or refuses to listen.
I would like to suggest an alteration to the Vote-Kick system with that in mind - instead of removing the player from game, make it such that they lose control of their unit, have their camera locked onto it, and have it act as an AI until re-voted for. I would call this a 'Vote AI' system.

Reasoning:
- By not outright kicking the player, you offer a chance to re-instate the person by 'Vote AI'ing for him again once they get a better understanding of the game's mechanics through observation rather than simply removing them.
- By locking a player onto an AI's unit, they may not necessarily grasp the control but they may begin to grasp the basic concepts of the game. I.E. 'Mine Asteroids, Run from Enemy Wraiths, Dock to Heal, How to Refine' and so on.
- This also create a way to deal with AFK Players without simply removing them from the game. It allows them to come back.
