Magnortium Wings - Wraith Upgrades: (1) 75B 50R
Decreases amount of Deceleration when turning by 50%. (when you turn, you still maintain more speed if this upgrade is applied)

This is an upgrade that really only affects skilled players because they can use this to their advantage more easily because...everyone knows how wraiths handle. This is a definite boost, but only if the wraith pilot knows how to use it. and of course the upgrade isnt that cheap either, but handled with ionic you really cant be hit if you handle it right =D

They have bean nerfed pretty hard ever since the collision damage was reduced, now its extremely hard to kill a miner, i go after player miners because of skill and i might have enough time to kill them, but only if they are new to the game

Wraiths need a buff

they don't. from what I've seen in my recent game, wraiths are doing exactly as they should.

Concerning current wraith play:

Thruster upgrades > Skill at wraithing.

It's very hard to impossible (as they outrun you) to catch a miner now that could successfully use turbo jump.
Even when the miner doesn't use turbo jump, you need more luck than skill to trap an enemy miner in a position he's having difficulties to escape from. (e.g. too deep in enemy territory, 0 energy ups)
Ionic is an overkill for the wraith, it's quite hard to handle the wraith then, in which case it's just better to switch to Ionic-corvette to hunt miners.

If you're wraithing and you have more thruster upgrades than the enemy, it becomes massively easier to hunt miners, basically a cakewalk when it's 4 vs 0 thruster upgrades.

What would you know about skills?

What would you know about contributing something to the topic?

A question that comes to mind --

Is it necessary for wraiths to always make kills? I get that it's extremely satisfying for the wraith pilot, but at the same time it's incredibly disruptive -- game winning almost -- to make a couple of miner kills. Ideally, wouldn't the game progress a bit better if at the beginning of the game wraiths had issues killing miners, and therefore focused more upon disruption before becoming superior hunters later in the game to be feared?

From what I remember, the progression seems reversed -- kills as easy early on, and less effective later on.

The upgrade isnt about damage and destruction, its merely better maneuverability. Late game wraiths can be used to scout the enemy BC and exploit a weapons console drone. Because by then most other ships can easily kill a wraith (BCs can essentially take wraiths down is about 2 seconds with dead on lazers) i think while not making a wraith very strong against other ships it could be a good scout.

That is true.
Well it depends on the captains on how much they prioritize thruster ups, they have a huge influence on the wraith-miner battle currently.
Vessel energy upgrades clearly favor miners, as they have always higher speed than a wraith now(if you count both at same thrusters level), while vessel energy grants the miner the ability to get immediately out of cannon fire range and stay there, since he cannot be caught by conventional means.

It is very reversed currently, as it's really hard to make late-game kills now, so disrupting is the way to go,
while early game you can usually catch an enemy miner without enough energy to escape or you even have superior thruster ups, and thus getting a very easy kill if nothing (un)expected from the enemy wraiths/corvettes/ captain at weps happens.

I'm not sure anymore whether it was the right thing to do with the wraith to reduce relative damage progression via upgrades.
It seems to me that the only way to reverse the current process is by nerfing the wraith's default values, but improving gain via upgrades.
Wraith deceleration upgrade seems like a good way to make it possible to catch miners late-game again, as it's only worth when you don't deplete your energy in the process, meaning you should have at least vessel energy 3 by then.
Just make it cost kerm, so people won't get it early game so much.
