So, three of us miners + a wraith just raped two wraiths and a vette and two miners since we had the mining while moving up. I would suggest that if a miner is moving, the speed it's moving at decreases the mining efficiency by up to 50%. So, if it's moving at full speed, decreased by 50%, and if at half speed, 25%, and so on. That way it's a tradeoff.

Just my thoughts though

can we just get rid of the moving while mining thing? and do something else like 2 things at once? O.o

Perhaps an alternative could be suggested then, Dread?

I think Zak's version is a fair compromise. Perhaps a bit more harsh in terms of the penalties, but certainly would not be a bad idea. It's just a bit too powerful right now.

I agree that this ability is too powerful.

Another issue I see with it is that it's very easy to chase down moving kerm asteroids.
Sometimes you find yourself in the situation when the team with Economy Tier 2 up already managed to get the most of the kerm and then can also deprive the enemy team from getting any kerm from mining moving asteroids.
In that sense it creates a further imbalance between the teams kerm-wise.

The ability is certainly fun to use, but I think the implications for gameplay are overall negative the way it currently is.

Small random idea I haven't thought fully through yet:
What if you actually also lose abilities from upgrading to the different tier upgrades?
Economy tier 0: mining while moving but only max 3/6 mining laser upgrades possible.
Economy tier 1: You lose the ability to mine while moving but you can up to 5/6 and also +15% from tier 1 bonus itself.

Point of that would be that you have to decide whether you want an easier time mining kerm or you want stronger economy overall?
Would still need to implement zak's idea then though, since initial wraith harassments would be harder by having miners that can defend themselves while running away.

Another issue is you can attack from behind yourself.

In a normal encounter of a wraith vs a wraith, you have to decide to fight or run. When you fight, you have to be facing the target, and then you have to make sure your aim is good - the other ship can dodge your attacks. Or, you run, and if you fire your weapon, you won't hit the enemy.

With the miner, you can attack a pursuing ship while running and dodging their attacks, which takes a lot of the skill that a wraith pilot needs out of the equation.

I would just remove "offensive" mining while moving. I believe that's the best way to balance it.

But I know it's probably impossible to implement considering how mining works.

Siretu just has to add a trigger if the target is in team =x or =y (team 1 or team 2, =z would be asteroids)
Calads idea is possibly the best one to fix this pro trick exploit.

That's not at all how it works for so many reasons, but yeah it should be possible but it's harder than that.

Generally, I feel like I would really like to keep mining while moving in some form. Removing the offensive part seems like a good nerf to me.
