this happens at ~30 min game time, basically upon returning to the BC, I get zapped, and my energy goes from 300 to 3k

also, is the automaton supposed to have infinite range?

This is not just an ionic thing. It is to do with the Economy Tier 2 bonus to energy transfer, I believe.
