The Captain calls the shots and as such is required to have a detailed understanding of the game.
The captain is responsible for:
- Managing the roles of the team members.
- How your teams minerals will be spent.
- Making most high-level decisions such as upgrade path and the general plan of the round.
Early game Captaining
Early game only the Captain will remain aboard the Battlecruiser completing the tasks usually with the assistance of drones.
These tasks include:
- Upgrading from the upgrades console.
- Using the science consoles "radar ping" and "power transfer" abilities.
- Providing cover fire to small ships from the weapons console.
- Setting the drones from the AI console.
- Refining unrefined minerals.
- Setting the initial power setting of the Battlecruiser from the energy console.
- Spreading repair stations around the Battlecruiser.
These tasks may be shared with the Ensign, or pilots that have lost there small ship.
