Asteroid

General

• Asteroids are the rocks that appear in space view.
• Each Asteroid contains 1 of the 4 types of minerals in its unrefined form.
• Asteroids come in different shapes and sizes. The health of the asteroid is proportional to the amount of minerals inside them (ratio is around 5hp for every 1mineral).
• Asteroids that are moving at the start have rare Kermiculite inside of them and are usually a priority to mine.
• Scouted Asteroids will be displayed on your minimap, even if an ally is not in sight range. Note however that enemies can mine these Asteroids and until the area has been scouted again the minimap will identify the Asteroids as remaining.
• Asteroids form in groups called Asteroid Fields or just Fields.
• After Economy Tier3 has been researched from the Upgrades Console, all Asteroids will be revealed for a short duration and displayed on the minimap.
• The unrefined minerals inside Asteroids can be collected either using a Miners, Mine Asteroid ability or with a Chompers, Chomp Asteroid ability.

Asteroid Field

Asteroid fields are clusters of asteroids. Each asteroid field has a size and type. At the start of the game, the map will be filled with several asteroid fields of different sizes and types. For each mineral type (except Kermiculite) there will be two small fields, four medium fields and two large fields.

Size

The size of the asteroid field just changes how many asteroids it contains.
Small: 4-7 asteroids
Medium: 8-11 asteroids
Large: 12-15 asteroids

Type

The type, of an asteroid field, is the base mineral that each of the asteroids in the field will contain. When the field forms however each asteroid has approximately a 25% chance to spawn with a different mineral. This means most fields are mixed containing more than 1 type of mineral.

• e.g: A Veldite field might contain some Pyromanite or Chalcorium as well.

The Kermiculite field however is special, when it forms it's pure; all the asteroids within the field contain Kermiculite.

Event

Asteroid Field is Forming

If there's less than 50 asteroids on the map an asteroid field will spawn randomly on the map. The field will be of a random size and a random basic type and it will be mixed.
Whenever a new asteroid field spawns both teams are notified with a message, however if your team has the "tier 3 economy" upgrade then the new field will also be pinged on the minimap for your team.

There's also a periodic spawn of Kermiculite Fields.

Kermiculite Field is Forming

The first asteroid field made entirely of Kermiculite will start to form within 8-11 minutes of the game. The field will be indicated to both teams on the mini-map by a large green ping, and a message will be displayed. The field will take about 30 seconds to form. After it has formed the Kermiculite asteroids will appear and can be mined. The field spawns in a random location that is equally far away from the two battlecruisers (not accounting for map warping). Kermiculite is spent on higher tier upgrades, some abilities and powerful small ships such as the destroyer and subjugator. When the majority of the Kermiculite field is mined, the green ping will disappear and another Kermiculite field will begin to form within 6-9 minutes.
