  • The Energy Console is where the Battlecruiser energy/power is managed.
  • Every ship has a Power Core that produces Power.
  • Power is just Energy/Second and is measure in Watts (W).
  • Energy is used by your teams Battlecruiser in 3 systems (also in some abilities) and excess is stored in capacitors for later use.
  • From the Energy Console you can set the amount of power towards each of the Battlecruisers systems, overclock your Battlecruiser Power Core or use the Shield Boost ability.

Battlecruiser Systems

  • The Battlecruiser has 3 systems, the Weapons, Shields and Engines system.
  • The power to each system is controlled by using the “Increase/Decrease Power” abilities
  • The power going to the systems are displayed top left of your HUD (superimposed on a model of a Battlecruser), while u occupy the Energy Console.

Weapons

  • The Weapons system allows you to use your Battlecruisers weapons, namely the Broadsides (Navigation Console) and Laser/Kinetic Weapons (Weapons Console).
  • Missiles don’t cost energy to fire.
  • Out of the 3 systems the weapons system is the only one to have its own capacitor.
    • Exact values it costs to shoot single/triple/penta as well as kinetic weapons
    • Exact values for broadside
    • note on T3 offensive 20% energy reduction cost

Shields

The shield system regulates your Battlecruisers shield regeneration rate.

  • exact values of shield regeneration increase

Engines

The engines systems are required to move your Battlecruiser, they effect the max speed at which the Battlecruiser can travel.

  • exact value increase in max ms and acceleration
  • does increasing engines increase its acceleration?

Capacitors

Your Battlecruiser has 2 capacitors, the energy capacitor (Ecap) and weapons capacitor (Wcap). The capacitors are like rechargeable batteries that can be filled with energy. Both capacitors have a maximum capacity of 100,000 GJ. If any capacitor fills completely then any excess power directed to them will be lost and wasted. If both capacitors are completely drained of all energy then all your systems will shut down (be set to 0).

Energy Capacitor

Excess energy not being consumed by the Battlecruiser systems will automatically be stored in the energy capacitor.
If the energy capacitor reaches 0, all stored energy in the weapon capacitor is instantly drained into the energy capacitor.
Having large deposits of energy in the energy capacitor allows you to overload your Battlecruisers systems in times of need.

Weapons Capacitor

Any power directed to the weapons system will be automatically stored in the weapons capacitor.
If the weapons capacitor reaches 0, all the Battlecrusiers weapons (except missiles) will be disabled.
Stockpiling energy in the weapons capacitor allows you to continue firing the battlecruisers weapons even if there is no power directed towards the weapons system. As you fire the weapons the energy will be taken from reserves of the weapons capacitor until it is completely drained and needs to be refilled.

Power Setup/Power Configuration

Power (energy/sec) into a Battlecruiser system is regulated by using the increase/decrease power abilities on the energy console.
These abilities let you change the power into a Battlecruiser system by units of +/- 5 GJ/Sec.
Your power setup is the 3 numbers you set your Battlecruiser systems to, these numbers determines the flow of energy to the corresponding system.
The numbers are displayed in order of the systems; weapons, shields then engines.

  • Eg. If "100 50 100" is your power setup, you have, 100 energy/sec to the weapons systems, 50 energy/sec to shield and 100 energy/sec to engines

Whenever you increase power to a system, you increase the drain on the energy capacitor.

  • note: In situations where multiple Battlecruiser systems need their power changed, never change the levels one system at a time. Change at least 2 systems at a time (use the hotkeys) and use your mouse to activate shield boost as required.
    • info add: change to 4 number setup that includes the power core output %

Power Gain/Drain, Power Management

The Battlecruiser core along with all docked small ships cores produces energy every second. This produced power is stored inside the Battlecruiser energy capacitor. Every second the stored energy from the energy capacitor is drained into the Battlecruiser systems based on your power setup. If the total power produced is greater than the power drain to your systems, the energy capacitor will start to fill; storing the excess produced energy. If the drain however is higher the capacitor will start to drain its stored energy reserves. Energy flowing to the shield and engine systems is consumed instantly. Thus not moving the Battlecruiser while you have engine power; or maintaining unnecessarily high shield levels is all wasted energy that could otherwise be used to fill a capacitor. Energy flowing to the weapons systems is different. Energy flowing to the weapons system is stored first in the weapons capacitor before being used. Firing weapons unnecessarily though still drains your weapons capacitor and is also a waste of power.

  • note: as mentioned docked small ships cores add to the energy production of the Battlecruiser a strategy that uses this fact; power deck.

Overclocking the Core

Increasing/Decreasing Core Output

The battlecruisers energy core can be overclocked to produce more energy. The core output can be increased/decreased by units of 5% by using the "increase/decreases core output" abilities. Increasing the core output above 100% produces more power, however core outputs above 105% starts to decrease the core stability. Decreasing the core output under 100% regenerates your core stability, the lower the output the faster the core stability recovers.

This lowering of core stability is called core degeneration and its rate can be reduced by researching Utility tier 3.

  • word this better: higher values about 105% core output decreases core stability exponentially, while lower the output belowe 100% repairs the core exponentially faster.

Core Stability

Your cores health is indicated by the core stability. If the core stability reaches 0%, the core will go critical and your Battlecruiser will explode. you can repair core stability by using "purge core" ability in the science console, or by lower the core output to values under 100%. malfunctions occur as your core stability lowers.

  • add list of malfunctions of core
  • equations to core repair/degen rates
  • note yamato reduces core stability

Common Power Configurations

Early Game Power

Most experienced teams will have their captain adjust the initial power settings of their Battlecruiser - 20GW/s in weapons, 20GW/s in shields, 100GW/s in engines - at the very start of the game, since supplying power to engines is only necessary if there is an intent to move the Battlecruiser itself. This allows more energy to be stored into the ship's capacitor such that it can be drawn upon in a time of need, such as to repel a rush or to fire at a nearby harassing wraith. If the team holds an interest in chomping, it may serve to put some power into engines so the Battlecruiser can move with the bulky, slow mining ship.

Power in Combat

Likely the most important role during a fight, the power console is responsible for keeping shields up in a fight, providing engines for positioning if required, and making sure the weapons console has sufficient energy to fire at the opposing team throughout the entire engagement. On top of this, enemy Missiles or Yamato Cannons may also fluctuate your core stability, which could call for attention before it sinks to a dangerously low value.
