Improved Mining Laser is a key upgrade to a successful economy. By allowing the [[Miner]] to gather more quickly, it opens up all other upgrades for a small cost, particularly because of the three [[Miner|Miners]] each team will begin with. Since mining will continue to prove useful throughout the entire game, especially given the ability to send drones on to perform the task, it is a highly sought after upgrade that is considered essential.
