Science Console

The science console serves few purposes at the moment since only a few abilities are associated with it. A team with an excess of Kermiculite may find a use for it due to its abilities to purge the core and to arm the Yamato Cannon. All other abilities are less often used, however, as power transfer is primarily used during the early game where small ships come into play and iron curtain can only be used when the Battlecruiser's shields are down.

Early Game Science

Power Transfer should be used in excess during the early game in order to supply small ships with no Vessel Energy Upgrades the power to use their abilities, such as Turbo Jump on the Miner. However, the heavy cost of Kermiculite for the other abilities will almost ensure zero usage of the science console otherwise during the early game.

Science in Combat

Typically, the science console will be used as a Kermiculite dump in combat since arming the Yamato Cannon costs 40 Kermiculite, and 50 Pyromanite, and purging the core costs 30 Kermiculite. If Iron Curtain has been researched but you have no Kermiculite to spend on the other two abilities you may find it more desirable to direct your crew to another station, or onto a small ship even.
