Upgrade Mine Damage
Because of the expenses, upgrade mine damage is often only used when the minelayer is an essential part of the teams strategy.
Upgraded mines can become a particular nuisance if prepared in advance during a Battlecruiser chase, simply because they're quite easy to overlook when preoccupied in a high tension situation. However, upgrading the mines so that extensive damage will be done is, again, quite expensive and still requires a surviving mine layer. It should be upgraded tentatively.
