Possessing greater Vessel Energy allows for all of your Small Ships to act more effectively; especially the Miner and Minelayer which both possess very high energy cost abilities. For all offensive ships, it opens up the possibility of firing far more often due to the energy cost of shooting their weapons. Many fights will ultimately come to a test of endurance, and providing sufficient energy to act will often allow a Small Ship to win, or at least survive, an engagement.
