Basics
A support ship. It is one of the fastest small ships, alongside the miner. It is not very tough but has a high energy storage and regeneration.
Abilities
~ The minelayer can drop a mine which will travel towards the most nearby enemy and explode. The usual amount of mines carried by the minelayer is 25 but it can be extended. However when the minelayer docks it will be rearmed. The mines are destroyable by many kinds of weapons, including the wraith cannon and the mining laser.
~ [EMP MINE: INFORMATION REQUIRED]
~ The distress beacon is basically an item left behind by the minelayer which emits a constant signal. It will be recorded by pingers on the battlecruiser and can cause distractions or mislead enemies. It can be constructed with the battlecruisers construction console and appears in loads of five beacons.
~ The minelayer is the only ship that can repair a ship's hull (whether small ship or battlecruiser). The nanite-based repairing materials are randomly released from the front of the ship, in a narrow cone.
~ The minelayer can also remotely recharge shields in a similar system to the Nano-Hull spray [see above].
Tips and hints
- Many distress beacons can confuse an enemy and make them lose time trying to destroy them.
- Place mines strategically, for example in an asteroid field or as somebody is following you. Beware as mines may cause lag if in excess.
