The only available upgrade for the wraith, upgrade plasma cannon is a method of allowing a wraith to overcome the difficulties of the Reinforced Hull upgrade which is often researched in order to provide survivability for Small Ships. Through it, the initial 15 damage to hull and shields a wraith deals can double by the time the upgrade reaches level 5, allowing a wraith to still play effectively even during the late game when a miner has doubled it's health.
