Modular Units / skins

Post by Hopeinmo »

I like the skin options so far, but I got tot hinking when posting in another thread... What if the skins/units were made modular? (Fyi I don't know how editor options work so it it is not possible, then ok)

I think it would be nice to have skins with modified models no weapons, instead, you equip a weapon/choose (could be for boarding later or just for looks)

If just aesthetic, then could, choose your fav model/skin, and equip it with weapon of your chose, being that you have reached rep required for each individual part :p

Example: In custom robo there are:
34 body models (main skin)
52 gun parts
41 bomb parts
44 pod parts
16 leg parts

That is 51 031 552 model combinations so I assume it is modular cause i doubt they made 50 million models :p

I am hoping sc units can be modular, cause it can make many available model combos with a few parts :p

Also, if it is possible, i draw information foor any four legged creatures from Jet Force Gemini, just mount weapon on it's back :p... hehe im curious if this could work later sometime in the future :3

What what? =o
Runescape uses modular models, custom robo too, not sure if SC works in a way that could do :p hope it does, (basically, wireframe of character has parts that can change looks =p)

You can make modular units. The destroyer is an example of this(consists of a science vessel, a train from the campaign, a speedbike and two sensor towers)
Never ignore coincidence. Unless, of course, you’re busy. In which case, always ignore coincidence.

well yes, but m better they are modular+saved down, can you have interactive modular components? so could switch without having to make each separate one? (example being custom robo) ... i mean, can you put the item / part swapping in a UI for skin selection? or is SC not that friendly? :p from waht i see, dessy is a unit, that was made by glueing pieces together, but modular means you make the pieces, and then player can put together how they want :o

l could show you that you can indeed to this. l'll pm you ingame right now. l know of a map where you can make units from scratch ingame. (Well.. Not 100% from scratch, but you can edit and attach units wherever and however you want) (If you'd like to look it up, it is slightly complex... It's called Cortex Roleplay - Melgenyavik)

Edit: Hopeinmo had some fun with this. o.o
