I'm a little shocked to see this thread here, to be honest. I don't mean to seem cocky, but if you've played more than a few high level games, you will have experienced (from the receiving or attacking side) the devastating effects of missiles.

Try launching a salvo of 6 sabertooth missiles at the start of combat. Reload with hellfire. When enemy shields drop (IF they even held beyond that first salvo) fire those hellfires in. Enjoy (or grieve) upon results.

Yes, they are expensive. Yes, the require foresight and teamwork to use effectively. Yes, they do make a huge impact on combat. I'm not against revamping missiles in general (Check 'Long Range Missile' thread) but to say their application isn't feasible is a statement made in gross error.

missiles really do give you an edge, but i feel they are so expensive and the top 3 missiles are never used (except maby the 1 that splits into 8 projectiles but no small ship is stupid enough to get that close, you can just shoot it down instead with weps)

the missiles have ben reduced in cost, but im still not seeing alot of use for them, most players still consider them not worth it even though i tested wasp and that thing !SCREWS EVERYTHING UP! for the enemy i almost got kicked the second game i purchased wasp missiles (only my high rep '175.5' saved me as everyone else was 20-125 and ultimantly thought i saw a bigger picture but ya screeming at first)

So you're saying we should make them free then?

ok i never said that. my point is is that missiles are still not used enough and many actually dont know how to load missiles. The only thing i can think of is the tutorial and make it a little more hands on
+ maby adding in description. 'Do the tutorial!'
and in the how to play 'Just do the tutorial
alot of players will look at these menus for quick stuff, its how kobold tribes is doing well because they advertised everywhere to do the tutorial first.
which means we might haft to stop the devopment after boarding and do a more action packed and hands on (like debris hitting everywhere and you needing to get on weps to fire missiles and lazers at the dam destroyer) and so on...na stupid idea on that part but a better tutorial will be needed

I may have taken too much liberty with your words but I'm not sure what you're suggesting the solution is. I don't think players would threaten to votekick you because they don't know how missiles work. Especially when you indicate that these are not newbies on your team. That story sounds farfetched.

just make weapons able to buy new missles in a following way:
When you click a free weapon slot in weapons you get a popup list or another tab which displays missles and prices, when you push one of them the missle is bought and placed at the default location (bottom deck next to item console)

Then if you have an arma bot, he'll pick it up eventually and load up, if not, it will still help the guy loading missles up, weapons will buy them, while the loading guy just has to pick em up and load into silos.

The other idea about enhancing the system is to add another skill for weapons "notification", having nearly no cooldown and no price it will notify navigation somehow, that weapons want to fire missles, so he can turn his nose. And about the price... halfing the price may have already caused a disbalance, so obviously no more price reducing is required. Just make the weapon system friendly.

Another possible suggestion: wc3 CC has silo queue inventories, which are purchased separately for each silo, and they cost merculite (kerm here), so just adding such an up with 6 levels, would really make rockets more then manage-friendly. (queue should have 2-3 slots) cause infinite queues is little op

think we should give the ability to purchase missiles at the weps console? it would make things easier in the middle of battles, and plus it would be easier to have missiles be unloaded in the middle of the BC (top floor like before 1.0 version). it would make missile reloading more viable.

i use missles all the time now, the price has been decreased and the dps is now worthwhile for the investment. I like the fact that it requires a trip and coordination to get the missle loading done, its a step id like to see not messed with just because it forces the team to keep busy in the event of a battle, and it takes a bit to reload.

As for light missles they arnt used because they have no use - I suggested in another thread that they become stronger but only able to target small ships just like the wraiths EMP. one of the largest issues this game is facing is a destroyer hiding behind or inside of the bc and firing, a counter to this would be a light missle barrage.
Games are only as Fun as Who you play them with
