So from my point of view, we just need to make a decent games with equal teams. One side will have those who think 150% core+ is suicide, and second team - thinking it's really worth it and it's great as it is now and then see who'll win.
Unfortunately, the game only saves to 1000 replays of the same map but I've moved folders a couple of times. Therefore, I only know I have at least 2700 games played on this computer and over 500 on my other . I know I cheated my way to the rep in-game, but I have actually earned it technically. I love playing my own game and I think it's awesome. As for the latest updates: I played around 300 games on this computer (approximately same amount of games on my other computer) in March.

As for balancing, I cant think of any changes to the core decay rate since it was introduced. There are some things you could mention:

* Purge core plasma(doesn't make it harder, the opposite really. Supports my argument, not yours)
* Emergency shield energizer(Optional, doesn't really support your argument. I argue that I use it even when I really increase the core high)
* Sabretooth and yamato draining core stability(Been like that since 0.999f and it's still not your argument since you're complaining that the core decay is too FAST, not that it makes you vulnerable due to missiles and even so, I've played a LOT since 0.999f and I still want to argue my point)

I'd like to argue that your point of view is wrong. It's not a question of playing a game to see who's and who's wrong. Core output 150% is situational and not always necessary. You cant just play a game and determine if it's worth it or not. It is a risk I'm taking after all, and it doesn't always pan out.
Never ignore coincidence. Unless, of course, you’re busy. In which case, always ignore coincidence.

i beat on the core to 150% when i NEED energy, badly. If im attacking the enemy force i leave my energy sit at 120% with frequent core purges, if you have the kerm your stab will NOT drop unless hit by multiple yams or sabers.

heh, over 3k games - that is more then unbelievable :D!
Siretu wrote:As for balancing, I cant think of any changes to the core decay rate since it was introduced
The gameplay changed a lot since when i started - a month or two ago, it doesn't have to be related to the core, any changes, affect all the others, like making shield recharger more efficient and fixing hardened shields change the way shields are maintained, which changes energy drains during battle, which as a result changes the way you have to torture your core.

You know what they say "If nobody complains - doesn't mean parachutes are perfect".
Siretu wrote:I know I cheated my way to the rep in-game, but I have actually earned it technically. I love playing my own game and I think it's awesome.
lawl, we all do love playing it, that's why we're here, you made a great amount of work on the map and still continuing to make it even more awesome and amazing! Thanks a lot for all that effort!
Siretu wrote:As for the latest updates: I played around 300 games on this computer (approximately same amount of games on my other computer) in March.
I don't get it, how could you play 300 games on last update in march, i hardly see you on once a week and im basically online 80% of the time, do you also play on EU?
Siretu wrote: * Purge core plasma(doesn't make it harder, the opposite really. Supports my argument, not yours)
First of all i never said i keep core at 100% stability, i still do use it up to 150% which i mentioned lot of times, thus purging helps, if that is a game with our team having shitloads of kerm. So no, it supports both, plus your core purging in case u use 195% output, only gives you around 6 additional seconds of core overload time. which is (if we only count 45% of the top and bc's 210 GW output) only around 600GW energy back, 40 kerm => 600 GW, yamato seems more worthwhile, plus my core is also going down, but i get more out of the purge sincei only put it to 150 max, usually less, unless it's a real emergency. Fights don't happen for 15 seconds, they take 3-5 minutes, sometimes more thus overloading core in 30 seconds to get to 2% stability doesn't help much with forseeing the energy requirements in the near future.
Siretu wrote: * Emergency shield energizer(Optional, doesn't really support your argument. I argue that I use it even when I really increase the core high)
i honestly don't see how a shield energizer that everybody use go against my argument of pushing core over 150% stability being crazy suicidal

how is something that you use to drain other cruiser's core related to pushing your core over 150 being suicidal?

What i say is core is not something that u should kill within first 30 seconds of the fight with 155%+ output and then play without, it's something you have to abuse all game, and to make a decision of crashing core that fast by putting e.g. 195% output, it has to be a real emergency, like having no power reserve and a destro leeching you - but that's about it. Plus you're speaking about 150% being situational and not always necessary, That is up to the point i agreed upon if you read the previous posts, what i argue about is there is no situation that should make you push core beyond 150%, unless you plan to end it within 15 seconds, and with current rates of things being done, that is not something achievable.

As i said already, core decay at 100-150% is perfectly fine, 155%-200% is not. especially 200%. I disagree about not being able to play a game and determine if it's worth it or not. It is one of the 2 ways, either do some math and check out alot of different situations that you can meet or just make a game and live through those situations, and the better methodics of power management win. As long as teams are balanced that is.

theres lots of way to handle your core and energy console, and its perfectly developed in that light. if your being jumped and need to BUST YOUR ASS retreating while shielding. beat on that core at 150%, purge when you can if you can, but use that extra quick pool of energy to retreat and survive. Its gotten me out of binds that i eventually won in return.

Yes, but there are none (tactics) for 195% core output, except suiciding your core when you want a quick remake due to imbalanced teams. I do not find that a reasonable cause to leave core as it is right now.

As a matter of fact, correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're being boosted upon how will 150% core help you, except it will take longer for you to accelerate your engines (you will not be able to press the [q] button down, and that is at least 2-3 times faster then just spam pressing it) and your core collapsing will cause problems with all consoles. By that time (if YOU are being boosted upon, you will already have enough energy reserves to play around with), so putting yourself into an EMERGENCY core state, will put YOU into disadvantage compared to ME fast boosting over to you, when i only have core output at 120%, why would someone who boosted on you let you go, even if you gain your speed, a good power manager will do the same, and seeing you will not defend as for now, he'll reduce his shields to a suitable value to just be able to protect if u decide to fight after all, or just erase them to a very low value if your shields will be offline. Thus after a 1 minute chase, you will start experiencing problems with your core, and you will be pushed off console, which will make your and your nav reactions dull, not to mention you wouldn't be able to put up a fight anytime soon, because of weapons blackouts, which would make me, having my stable output of 120% into a position of having slightly less energy then you but stable enough, more over after 3-4 minutes of chase you will have your core so low, that you will not only be in grave state, but also will be forced to put your core output back to a stable value, while i will still keep it on 120% maybe will push it to 125% seeing i am almost out of energy. So in 2 more minuts i will outpower you with my output and my core will still be stable, maybe short problems with blackouts.

Not only you will be out of power before me, but you will also have you, your weapons and your navigation at 30-50% efficiency

Now reading my actions, which i shouldn't really post to public, how do you find your methods of putting 150% core in that situation more suitable?

--------

Now if you finally agree to me at that point, immagine if instead 150% of core putput, which brings you COMPLETELY NO BENEFITS in this situation at all, you would be able to put it to 200%, but decaying will be same as if it was 150% (I'm repeating myself, but still, I am not saying we should reduce decay rate, just cap them at 150%, thus 150-200% would all have same decay speed), compared to me with my 120% output, you will definitely outpower me, but your defensive and offensive functions will be f**ked up by low stability, so you pay the price of weapons and nav offline but gain more energy then i do even in a long term fight, cause, you know, if i'm the one chasing, i wouldn't push my core to 200% unless needed, because i do not want to lose my functionality. Thus you will be able to escape me but the price will be not being able to fight back, reasonable, worth giving it a go.

At the moment there are only 2 situations that make a good power manager, not a team core destroyer to use 150% output:
1. You are out of energy and getting attacked by a dessy with quantum leach, you really need a high output of maybe 180 to get enough energy to boost and then raise your weapons to be able to escape.
2. You had a long fight with your enemy, but your energy pool for both weapons and ship went down to a low value of ... lets say 5k, same goes for your enemy, so it'll be a good idea to put core to 150% and use that power to finish it off.

----

I've used my tactics to get away from a situations where our cruiser has 20k energy and 20% hull against hostile 80k energy, 90% hull, after my team put me in such a situation. And yes, that is all the fault of poor enemy power management, or lets say not poor, but not skilled highly enough. It's not that he drain those 80k chasing me in one instant, but after 5-15 mins of chase he had 20k and i had 14k (time flows fast when you play cc :D, so i can't really say if those were 5 or 15 mins).

good points and everything, having the option to go that high doesnt mean you need to have an effective strategy to perform it however.

There are ways to work quicker with power than your currently knowledgeable of :o, and also different methods to get more out of power than you know.

If its not broke dont fix it, the power console works excellently and the core stability ratios are sound, everything is balanced and the system works very well. The community is familiarized with this flawless system and it doesn't need to be changed unless a large problem is discovered.

There are quite a few ways to differentiate talent between players on power, its all reflex, insight, and prediction.

Possible, possible, but so far i can't see a better way of managing power, maybe i should just keep trying new stuff, but i don't really like losing, esp if it's by my fault :)

I just thought that everything cruiser has - has to be usable

:p naa, i'd say i perfected basics long long ago, now i perfected safe pro techniques, still don't feel too comfortable with setting a campfire on top of my core
