I know many people just use allied colors, but could you maybe make all small ships the teams color? Currently they go out as the players color.
A good example of this, is star battle. All team ships are blue or red, yet each player maintains their player color.

ok just use team colors...there is no point on not using them and having to change colors, i use colors to identify the player using the ship (yes theres a nametag but on the minimap it helps to identify if the guy flying the wraith is a pro and i should watch out or just ignore.
Oh its not orders I'm giving, but rather... "aggressive suggestions".

The ships used to have the same color. I changed it just so you'd be able to notice it on the minimap. I use the minimap as Red-rocket said, to know which player is which, and I feel like removing that would be a bad idea.
