Well theres the tutorial button... ... take a look at STD? perhaps a dropdown box for practice map? solo play.. maybe with friends :p lol hm.... practice friendly map sounds like lota work XD still :p making a entirely separate map not good idea, best to have it in same map :o

sidenote.... perhaps everyone can vote, a very small sandbox time, (I dont know anything about your maps size but...) expand map, and go intot he expanded area making a mini sandbox area where can goof off/train... which only would use depending on what people voted? (limited time before game starts)

(sometimes i feel like my suggestion/imput is nothing but barf @_@)

Another alternative you could offer would be a a 'Practice Mode' button next to the 'Ready' button and then add another column to your player list next to your 'Ready Checklist' - this one could be the 'Practice Mode Checklist.' You could have it require all players in game to do the 'Practice Mode' check in order for it to activate, so it won't likely impact public lobbies since achieving 100% approval rating is usually something that will only occur in a private game.

TLDR: What Capri said already.

star wars assault can be a decent way to practice flying combat :p not perfectly similar but can help you work on the reflex's you'll need.
