Boarding item suggestion

Post by zakhennahr »

I was reading another thread regarding cloaking and infiltrating, and I have the following idea for an item.

EMP Grenade
Cost: 5 10 5

Throwable item at a range of 6 marines which performs the following actions within a radius of 3 marines.
  • Damage turret: Deals 25% of a turret's maximum life in damage to it.
  • Disable marine electronics: Disables marine weapons for 3 seconds, healing gloves for 2 seconds, and cloak for 7 seconds. If it is easier, it disables all of these for 5 seconds.
  • Disable machinery: Disables any drones or consoles within its area of effect for 10 seconds, such that they are not usable. Disconnects any users from the console if they are on it.
I fully apologize if this had been suggested already and I did not find the thread. My reasoning for this item is that it can be used both defensively against boarders (but be careful not to hit your own turrets!), and offensively as well. Jump on in the enemy ship, disable their refiner, run away, or jump in and disable their power console, and so on. This could have many uses, and each marine would be able to carry up to 6. Its primary purpose is to disrupt the other team's flow for just a small bit, as opposed to the C4, which disrupts work for much longer periods of time.

This would also give life to strategies where the infiltrator has a purpose of infiltrating and disrupting (and perhaps hiding until the time comes) instead of infiltrating and killing.

Of course, the cost could be too cheap, so that would need to be modified, but the general idea of an EMP grenade makes me happy.

doesnt seem like it should cost so much, i would have a *crate of EMP* grenades, like 5 at a time that you can wire to the command card
Oh its not orders I'm giving, but rather... "aggressive suggestions".
