Add Ability to Move Players in the Setup Lobby

Post by Zeus »

If there is a way that we can move players between Team 1 and Team 2 in the setup lobby after the load screen that would give us the ability to balance teams. A lot of times we are asking for balanced pubs, and unless you know every name there, it is impossible to balance in the game lobby. This would really help get some better games going and should also help grow the CC community.

It's a great idea and something I'd love to add, however: http://cruisercommand.com/forum/viewtop ... p=594#p594

It is something I'd like to experiment with when I get back after summer

Well this would be a real good point but: Reputation is not all. There are several people with a high reputation that are not that good than some others with a much more lower rep... Just to keep in mind ;) So only looking at reputation won't solve that problem....

Being able to move players in the setup lobby is by far the best option in being able to make balanced games. There is no reason to not add this feature, if it can be done.

it would be a great feature, but as siretu already said:
I understand the need for a feature like this, but unfortunately the map is really not made to handle this. It is possible, sure. But it would require a huge rewriting of the code and it would be a great deal of work which will most likely lead to a period of weird bugs all over the place until I get everything fixed.

I was writing in response to GUNdALF's response. Also, as Siretu said, he likes the idea and intends to look into it after the summer.

I would like to point out there are at least two people on this forum who know how to code besides Siretu. If Siretu wants free help in implementing this, "ask and ye shall receive" :).

The point of having other working on CC is not something I'm negative to, however these people need to learn how the editor works first, if they dont already. A big part of the code is not in Galaxy(Sucky version of C++ or something) but rather in GUI triggers.

Basically, I've talked about taking help from people before but collaborating on SC2 maps is pretty hard due to the lack of systems like git, cvs or svn. I also need to find someone who is good at programming but also knows the editor and I then have to educate him in how my map works because the code is a mess and it's very hard to maintain.
