Intruder Kept Raising from the Dead and Could Not be Killed

Post by Zeus »

We were just in a game where an intruder kept killing us, would pass out on death and then come back to life and start killing us again. We must have killed him no less than 20 times. Siretu, I sent you the replay of this.

This glitch is being exploited now to just kill the player on power console now. I have a replay of [CCA]Corinthian exploiting it to win an IH. Total waste of time and a game. No point in playing if it's just going to be an exploit game. I'll post the replay later.

Does it happen all the time or only some games?

This was the 2nd time I have seen the glitch, and the first time it has occured to me. However, the following game it occured under the exact same situation.

Zeus, in the replay you may notice that I attempted to escape your BattleCruiser. I was not trying to become a zombie, I was just practicing my Infiltration. However, you must have had an ai on weapons because i was shot down fairly quickly. Once I was shot down, there was no way for me to escape, so I preceded to cause as much damage as I possibly could.

Also, as a piece of evidence that I was not trying to replicate this bug. In that previous game, where we both witnessed this occurance, I was convinced that the cause was an interaction between Nanodock Gloves and a Nullifer, and you will notice that I was not carrying a Nullifier.

Insomni, this glitch is easy to replicate. It is game breaking. It will need to be fixed. I will message you the exact sequence.

I would wager the cause is the fact that you are on the enemy BC, which is then considered 'your bc' for the time being. Even though you launch from the enemy BC after having boarded, the BC considered to be yours is not reset to the correct one. You probably get reset to spawning on your BC after you dock with it with the infiltrator.

I have even noticed a situation where the hangar bays are filled with fog of war on my own BC after infiltrating.

Yes, that makes more sense. But the phrases used in that previous game for all the world made me think of the carried Nullifer Small Ship Bug... which I guess I should report.

It goes like this.
You create a nullier and 5 shields. You auto-pick them up and the nullifier auto-armors. You auto-drop and load, and don't notice a problem. Then, as you are flying around, you keep getting the message that you have fainted. It does not impact your abilities in any way, but it just keeps happening to you. When you dock you can be near death.

Oh right. Seems like the problem is when you faint while flying due to the periodic health loss due to nullifier. I'll see if I can publish a patch today.

Okay, I wasn't able to replicate this glitch at first, because I was too determined that it was related to the frequency nullifier. When I read Corinthian's PM instructions more closely, I was finally able to replicate it.

I'll try to fix it as soon as possible and in the patch I'll also make it so frequency nullifier doesn't deal damage to your marine while you're flying. I'll also fix another boarding bug I found.

Everything should be fixed and ready now. However, I'm moving(from south africa) tomorrow to go to Zambia for a week. In addition, it's hard and annoying to test properly on my laptop.

Therefore, I've published the new version on NA only and as "Cruiser Command Beta". It would be great if you could get some people together and try out boarding and see if the bugs are fixed and if you find any other bugs and report back here.

If you don't find anything, I'll try to publish it from Zambia if possible, otherwise you'll have to wait until next Saturday/Sunday before I can do it.
