So I was reading a secret yarrr thread when I thought of this. It is not relevant in pubs but in full game with experienced players with both teams on TS, it feels likr it coulf be useful.
What am I rambling about? Well, the captain has so much to keep a track of but pings can't be seen while running around inside the ship. I was thinking that a person (probably a miner) is responsible for keeping track of all enemy pings and be an easy source of location information for the captain and also other players.

Never ignore coincidence. Unless, of course, you’re busy. In which case, always ignore coincidence.

Re: [High level] Ping officer
Im not sure what is being stated in yarrr, but it is not up to the captain to keep track of pings, its usually the players on ships who see them and adjust accordingly.
If it is needed, the pilots will call the captain to weapons to deal with any threat that is nearby, (like multiple small ships, or a BC on the way)

Oh its not orders I'm giving, but rather... "aggressive suggestions".
Re: [High level] Ping officer
I agree with you Erik (duh.) and disagree with you Red.
It is the captain job to keep track of pings and no pilot ever keep track of the enemy BC pings.
One pilot should be tasked with keeping track of enemy pings, including the enemy BC and enemy miners. This avoid multiple people screaming bloody murder about something that the captain can't hear because there's 9 person saying the same thing in different ways.

Re: [High level] Ping officer
Without doubt, having more than one person have map awareness is extremely helpful. It's always nice to have extra people processing information. However, there also comes the nuisance of having too many people say too many different things. They're rushing!... and then it turns out it's just an enemy miner.
Still a nice thing to point out though. Players should be watching the map just as closely as the captain when they can.

Also, I chuckled to myself. I won't lie.Red-Rocket wrote:Im not sure what is being stated in yarrr, but it is not up to the captain to keep track of pings, its usually the players on ships who see them and adjust accordingly.

Re: [High level] Ping officer
To clarify, I'm suggesting putting the ping awareness on a single player (preferably one out in a ship)

Well, having one person leaves 'gaps.' Docking repairs, small ship deaths, general lapse in attention, switching to another ship, switching activities... generally having more than one person attentive is usually a good idea in my opinion.Siretu wrote:To clarify, I'm suggesting putting the ping awareness on a single player (preferably one out in a ship)
