Small Salvaging Change
I've heard some mixed comments about Salvaging and it's potential to break the game. Some people seem to dislike the possibility of a noob instantly salvaging all ships, or simply the excessively flexible nature of salvaging your hanger at the end game. It suddenly occurred to me that there may be a solution that helps deal with this sort of issue.
Why don't we attach a cool down to salvaging?
Could be as simple as 'You can only salvage once every 5 minutes' to associating a particular cooldown to a particular ship type. My money would be on a 5 minute cooldown timer personally.
I like the extra little bit of depth this small little addition might add. Makes the hanger still malleable, but forces people to think twice about what ships they buy as they reach the 'end stages,' and forces them to look a bit more ahead into how much space they'll need such that they'll start salvaging early rather than instantly manipulating everything.

Re: Small Salvaging Change
I've been demanding an addition to salvaging for quite a while now: Vote for salvage.
So basically, we just take the voting from the vote kick mechanic and apply it on salvaging ships as well.
As soon as you click on "Salvage" of a ship, a vote for salvaging will be started, and the ship will only be recycled if the majority of the team is in favor of it.

I could (and almost did) go on a rant about how vets are pretty much given to outrun noobs to the hanger and launch all of the important ships, or could noobs could spam purchase missiles, or purge core and load yamato to spend your green....Degra wrote:I've been demanding an addition to salvaging for quite a while now: Vote for salvage.

I just think the vote salvage feature would be intrusive and bulky, and generally impede flowing game play. How frustrating would it be to have to vote to salvage various ships seven times in a row?
I just generally prefer the cooldown version because it acts as a 'troll stopper' during later portions for the most part and it forces a bit more thought and foresight into hanger purchases.

Re: Small Salvaging Change
In that case, a message "Player X salvaged ship Y" would be still nice.
Right now there's no message at all when someone salvages something, which means the troll life is very convenient in that aspect.

I could readily agree to that. I mean, there are purchase notices -- I don't see why there should be salvage ones as well.Degra wrote:In that case, a message "Player X salvaged ship Y" would be still nice.

or just make it so that any T1 tier will allow salvaging, since most trolls dont go through the game that long anyways, or people randomly pressing buttons at the begining

Erik seemed to like the idea of opening salvages as a gambit, so...Red-Rocket wrote:or just make it so that any T1 tier will allow salvaging, since most trolls dont go through the game that long anyways, or people randomly pressing buttons at the begining

I like that idea, but locking it to tier 1 might be worth it just because it easily deters trolls.WhyteDragon wrote:Erik seemed to like the idea of opening salvages as a gambit, so...Red-Rocket wrote:or just make it so that any T1 tier will allow salvaging, since most trolls dont go through the game that long anyways, or people randomly pressing buttons at the begining

Never ignore coincidence. Unless, of course, you’re busy. In which case, always ignore coincidence.
