Suggestion: signal science AI to not "zap" docking ship
Suggestion: signal science AI to not "zap" docking ship
I would like to propose that if a ship use the "dock" ability, that the science AI will not attempt to zap it for the next 10 seconds - this would work regardless of how far away from the BC the ship using the "dock" ability is, such that a miner/etc. can "dock" while approaching, such that the zap is not wasted, or a ship that was accidentally launched and tries to re-dock won't get zapped either.
It would also be nice if the AI favored the ship with the largest gap between current energy and max energy (such that wraiths would get priority over miners, and subjugators over wraiths), while chompers wouldn't get zapped unless there were no other targets.

Re: Suggestion: signal science AI to not "zap" docking ship
This has been bothering me for suuuuuuch a long time. I've just been too lazy to figure out the best way to solve the problem. I think I have an idea of a good way to make it work without players having to do anything special. I'm thinking a check that combines speed and looking if the ship faces towards the BC.
The energy gap is also a good idea.

Never ignore coincidence. Unless, of course, you’re busy. In which case, always ignore coincidence.

I haven't seen this work too much.. I think that the "angle" of a "docking ship" is currently too narrow..

Really? When I tried it, it worked perfectly each time.

has it been pushed to the "normal" version? I have gotten zapped while going on an "intercept" course with the BC where I aimed at the stern of the BC when docking..Siretu wrote:Really? When I tried it, it worked perfectly each time.

Okay, so I tried it out and it is definitely live, but the angle might need re-adjusting. If you don't want to get targeted, make sure to aim directly towards the center of the Battlecruiser.

So like how large is the angle? front 90º? (of the small ship) that won't be zapped?

Front 35º. I changed it to 50º and published it to normal version. Tell me if it feels better.slapshot wrote:So like how large is the angle? front 90º? (of the small ship) that won't be zapped?

better, but it still zaps wraiths who are coming in to dock via the side-boostersSiretu wrote:Front 35º. I changed it to 50º and published it to normal version. Tell me if it feels better.
