Smaller Kermaculite spawns

Post by Red-Rocket »

you know how there is always the big field of big blobs of green and if you dont get a piece of it your running on fumes (small asteroids flying around, you may get lucky but most of the time you get very little)
I am proposing 2 more asteroid fields that will spawn between the Big field and the BCs these will have 2-3 Big pieces to them so you cant entirely rely on them but it gives you a fighting chance as it is easier to access and many of the new important upgrades are requiring green. It will also make it more strategic to hold both fields from the enemy if you truly want to cut them off from the kermaculite and will be risky as it the small feild could be close enough to be in long range firing distance from BC, but hey its worth the risk right?

BC-----SmF-----BF-----SmF-----BC
Awww my cute little diagram of distances!

What problem does this solve-- I mean, what is wrong with one team denying the other team large quantities of green? Should the team that secured the first kermiculite spawn not have an advantage?

kerm is perfect as is, we complained about it before and its been fixed and i think its been fixed perfectly. We have a thread up about a grav pull to the kerm field and you want more spawned? xD if you want more kerm you have to make intellectual preperations for its arrival, like the bc being in range to cover fire, or all small ships going there on a dime. That responsibility falls on the leader of the team, before kerm spawns say you want all small ships to get to it asap, some more clever players will relocate miners to the middle of the bc's in preperation, get engine boost sooner so you can be there. lots of ways to put it in your favor. If you dont put the effort in to get the kerm you need, its your own fault.

Kerm spawn has always been, to the best of my knowledge, an event intended to create a pressing need for action. Ideally, both teams will make an attempt to secure the location as quickly as possible; a wide range of tactics including BC rush and preemptive small ship parties are available. The reward for responding both swiftly and appropriately is the ability to research high-end tech beyond the reach of your opponent if time allows.

This changed a bit with the introduction of moving kerm. rocks. The rush to center, and preparations for it, became less of a necessity and more of a risk. The balance is shifting back toward the old ways, where the center field (and denying your opponent of its contents) plays a more important role in determining the outcome of battles.

Keep in mind, there does exist a mass replicator. It's been there...well...a long time. It needs a hell of a lot of time to take advantage of, but it has always been there for the survivalist with a long-game in mind.

I agree with what other have said. I feel like kermiculite is in a good spot right now. Getting the green field is nice and people often fight for it. Mining there can often be risky, but you still got a fighting chance if you dont get it, since your miners can get the flying ones.
Never ignore coincidence. Unless, of course, you’re busy. In which case, always ignore coincidence.

well since there are so many upgrades that are implemented that require green i kinda feel like there needs to be more ways to get green, Replicator doesnt help, 15K power for 5? definetly not worth it
