Acronaut missile/Endecron missile

Post by Red-Rocket »

Acronaut Missile/heavy missile
20B 20R
250/400 (hull/shield) damage
Special effect: disconnects 1 random user from a console and makes that console inoperable for 3 seconds (5 seconds for drones as they are rewiring connections, running diagnostics on themselves, ect...)

Endecron missile/heavy missile
Requires T1 kinetics before unlocking missile
15Y 5B 20R
600/0 (hull/shield)
Special effect: ignores shield (hence no shield damage)
Oh its not orders I'm giving, but rather... "aggressive suggestions".

spam the Acronaut missile and the whole enemy ship is useless...

ignore shield missile... I agree, they would be cool. but those are awfully overpowered. some nerfing there first

Acronaut missile would be extremely easy to fix by just limiting it to a cooldown of a 30 seconds or so.

Another thought is that they would be ineffective if the enemy has shields up alongside the cooldown.

I do not like Acronaut missile.

You are investing very little in order to disable any one console on the BC when most of them are -vital- in order for it to operate. It becomes a pray on luck to hitting the Power Console - and frankly, I appreciate Cruiser Command as a game of skill first and foremost.

The concept of a missile that breaches hull isn't terrible, but I would make it a Kermiculite cost missile first and foremost. The only other method of bypassing shields is by Destroyer Chronitron Torpedoes, and that's an opportunity cost of Quantum Leach along with the minimum drop of 95 Kermiculite. Having a missile alternative should be at least 10 Kermiculite per 250 hull damge dealth, considering you only need to deal 10k damage is most cases - a translation of 400 Kermiculite for a shield bypass kill. However, I still do not like the idea as it makes the Chronitron Torpedo upgrade mostly moot since hull breaching is a burst attack. Why would you use it when you could instead use BC missiles which can be fired far more quickly? Just doesn't seem worth it. It gave the upgrade some value -- afterwards, it becomes... meh.

TLDR;
Acronaut is a spray and pray for the right console, which is a luck based mechanic. I don't like that.
Endecron utilizes a mechanic that was supposed to be difficult to obtain. You're asking that we make it readily available, degrading the worth of the Destroyer. I don't like that.

3 seconds is a short time and its only 1 guy, its simply just meant to disconnect them as more of an annoyance like the core stability that would randomly eject people. I don't think it will single handedly kill BCs, you gotta back it up with good dps. that is the point of all weapons, it will increase your chances of survival. Acronaut missiles isnt a spray and pray missile when in fact we did an excellent job of making every single console important in a fight (yes even construction if your missile heavy). And btw missiles are incredibly under utilized. I suggest putting missile construction on top just below the main area and above power, and have the option for missile loading ai to get light missiles.

That's for one missile. Good teams can reload more than one missile / second, which probably means disconnecting the whole team in less than 10 seconds if you have more missiles.
Never ignore coincidence. Unless, of course, you’re busy. In which case, always ignore coincidence.

I assume you have not seen a weapons AI fire missiles, nor the potential for reloading speed.

The ability to simultaneously disconnect Power and Navigation for 3 seconds consistently is overpowered, especially in a rush situation, meaning you won't be allowed to react. Three seconds are done? They quickly relaunch another 6 missiles in fast succession. Provided you stockpile 30 missiles in advance, you can most likely shut down their entire battle cruiser for fifteen seconds.

I'm sorry, that seems just outright silly. You can change the timer as much as you like, but a mechanic that prevents people from using the BC effectively makes players useless during the late game. I feel any mechanic that prevents people from playing the game should be considered with the utmost caution.

Cooldown in what way? On loading or creation?

Creation wont matter because you can stockpile. Loading is not a good way to do it since it would be inconsistent with how normal missiles load.

even just a 2 second load, (computer inputing missile, arming it, completing launch sequences), see that little conveyor belt? that could come to good use!
