The predator missile can be shot at a very long distance in order to harass an enemy Battlecruiser. However, it's main purpose is to attach a tracking beacon which will reveal the enemy on the minimap for as long as the beacon remains on the ship, which may be a long time since the tracking beacon is randomly spawned on the enemy Battlecruiser's deck as a small red light which must be directly right clicked in order to be attacked.
